Rummaging around in the chaotic back-catalogue of the Bonzo Dog Band again, I realised that I never got round to typing up this little number for ukulele. Their original is in Bb, so you can transpose it if you want to play along with the band or leave it in C as it is on the song sheet. One of the many old 78s the Bonzos used to pick up at street markets for a penny or two, chosen largely by the titles, which formed the bulk of the band's material in the early years. Versions from the 1920s, by the likes of The Happiness Boys, were usually slightly different, but did include a "can't elope" pun sadly omitted here.

Detail of a Brian Chippendale silkscreened poster from 2002. This was from the "secret Lightning Bolt shows" era, when they were still trying to play tiny underground spaces, but were attracting too big an audience. So the poster listed the band as "Laser Beast" and only hinted at the location, to reduce turnout. This poster is the reason their web site is laserbeast.com instead of something lightning-bolt.???-ish.
