Now, that Microslop and Sony are closing gaming studios left and right: why did they sell in the first place? Were they in financial danger, or just those offers were too good?

In reality, the path would have been A:\ with a back-slash instead of a forward-slash.
However, even that is questionable since A: was the first floppy drive letter and C: would have been the hard disk which is most likely the boot media for a scifi spaceship.
