I reached Children of Dune, which means I moved from the modern hardcover Rebis editions (to the left) to classic, 1992 paper back Phantom Press (right photo) and what an upgrade it is. Lighter, yellower, nicer to look at and I can use it with one hand. I could kill someone with the hardcover, but I don't this is the point.

And it has wear. The spine is broken! Someone read it (bought it 2nd hadn), it was a shelve decoration. I'd have to throw the hardcover at wall for it gain any character.

Stop using books as gifts and start treating them as cheap entertainment. Because they should have always been cheap... and soft.
