Two new blog posts about AI, one critical, one supportive

I have been writing these for over 4 months now. Not only are they long reads, but it took me a while to really get a good idea of how I wanted to express myself. I think I have had enough time to think about these ideas and these opinions that I can now express myself fairly clearly, but I’ll let you (my readers) be the judge. Of course, feel free to tag me in a Fediverse post if you want to send me feedback on what you liked or disliked about my articles. Yes, I know they are too long, I’d suggest reading them in a few sittings if you find it enjoyable.

@oantolin @tarsius Yes, this is a valid approach for doing via Fediverse and I was thinking about that as well.

To me, I did not want to have peers look for the "original" toot in order to be able to reply after months/years.

I wanted to enable all peers to "start" a new thread about some aspects of my articles. And therefore, I ranked the approach using higher than the approach with replies.

@tarsius Hi, I just saw the "Comments on Reddit." footer of one of your articles.

Have you considered using the for ?

I came up with a concept on my own. Unfortunately, so far I only blogged about it in German: karl-voit.at/2026/02/18/Vorsch

However, the concept is quite simple and you can see at the bottom of my articles like karl-voit.at/2021/07/23/emacs- -> "Comment via Mastodon using the [...]" + a link below ""Comment via Mastodon" that should do the trick easily.

I can't say that my idea did already take off but I'd fancy of more people would try similar concepts in addition to their current method and maybe it could replace walled gardens like reddit, Disqus, and such ...

                                  Dear Fedi friends,

Yesterday I posted a toot about #WSocial on this account (I typically talk about them on Mastodon, but I needed more than 500 characters, so I switched here). It was widely shared and discussed.

Some of you may have missed my articles critiquing W Social. I have been following them - with a critical eye - and collecting evidence since their soft launch at Davos in January: https://blog.elenarossini.com/tag/w-social/

Anyway, some of you mistook the tone of yesterday's toot and thought I was ENDORSING signing up for an account on W Social. In reality I was being sarcastic 🙃

I will make sure to spell out my intentions much more clearly next time.

At any rate, my latest article about them made it to Hacker News yesterday (wild) and my research has been quoted in Dutch, German and French news outlets. The tide is finally turning (from fawning PR coverage to a more distanced, critical look).

Thank you for your support as always! ❤️
