This is my new, future account. While most interaction still happen on the bsd.cafe one, I aim to migrate fully here.

I am posting mostly culture, emacs, bsd and anti-ai based ramblings. I don't curse and I try not bait people into pointless anger rages.

I am a nerd (or dork? I don't know), a software engineer and I started to hate what technology has bacame.

This is a self-hosted, single-user instance running on snac2.

Go routines are really nice. I know that it's the selling point of Go, but the are really nice. Since my SSR does lots of unrelated things (read N files, parse them, generate HTML files) the simple "sync" package is more than enough.

@michal glad to see someone else doing ssr and appreciating routines. my recent spike of a 13mb fediverse client in go used some of this approach. i'm still testing it, but so far it's working quite nicely.

what are you building in go? also any movies that you're enjoying currently?

      @michal sounds like a great project. i got tired of hugo and made a minimal generator too. took some lessons from the bssg project @stefano worked on, but this was specific tooling to learn with.

      sounds like a good read. i've been going through some older philosophy books to try to disconnect a bit. it's pretty nice to read again :-)

        @michal I should like Go, since it was designed by people I respect. But it's *Google*, so I automatically refuse to use it, or say anything nice about it at all. I'm not sure how Go manages to steal all your personal data and sell it, but it's Google so it *must* be doing that.

        And if it doesn't now, it will be soon.

        (And some people tell me I'm being paranoid...)

          It's the Old Google which, while also being a terrible company, had great engineering culture.

            @michal They may still have that. I dropped them in 2000, when I found them actively thwarting my privacy settings.

            So now I am not permitted to admit they do anything good. ;)

            I hold a grudge.
