God Emperor of Mastodon (new account)

@michal@sapka.pl

This is my new, future account. While most interaction still happen on the bsd.cafe one, I aim to migrate fully here.

I am posting mostly culture, emacs, bsd and anti-ai based ramblings. I don't curse and I try not bait people into pointless anger rages.

I am a nerd (or dork? I don't know), a software engineer and I started to hate what technology has bacame.

This is a self-hosted, single-user instance running on snac2.

Let's settle this once and for all. We had it best when the top-of-the-line way to organize yourself was:

pen&paper Notebook:41
Electronic Organizer:4
PDA:11
Laptop:8
Smartphone:5

@michal I've always relied on memory. My memory. It's not 100%, but it's good enough. I am questioning whether that's still a winning strategy as my brain ages.

    @michal The only thing that actually works for me is a backlog and regular "sprint planning" (whether formal or private for myself). Before I learned how to do that, a lot of my tasks just fell to the floor, never to be picked up again. On the other hand, that says a bit about how little of the stuff we get asked to do is actually important.

      @michal Pen & paper for short term things and stuff I'm still thinking about, Markdown files on the computer for anything I know I'll need to reference in the future. Anything else is just useless.

      Electronic calendar systems are the worst because any dork can and will pull you into their appointments, completely fracturing your day.

        Cloud-based calendars are not for the user's convenience but for everyone else's. They are designed not to help being organized but to make it as easy to schedule a mass event as possible.
