This is my new, future account. While most interaction still happen on the bsd.cafe one, I aim to migrate fully here.

I am posting mostly culture, emacs, bsd and anti-ai based ramblings. I don't curse and I try not bait people into pointless anger rages.

I am a nerd (or dork? I don't know), a software engineer and I started to hate what technology has bacame.

This is a self-hosted, single-user instance running on snac2.

At this point in my life, I have a huge "no fucks given" attitude towards computers. My personal fleet is FOSS, and I like it. It does what I want, and that's good enough. But outside my home? I no longer care if I use Mac, Docker, Claude, or Java. I'm all out of fucks, as the state of computing is redefining its lows, and pretending that my anger is changing anything is futile. They pay me and tell me how to bark. I'm ok with this.

On the other hand, I'm keeping my son away from modern tech. It's Putt Putt and Pijama Sam all around. Fuck what we now call "The Internet".

@michal When I first started my career, I had this idea that I should do the best job I could. And if I saw something which could be better, I'd want to do that.

It probably took a decade or more for my "horizon" of responsibility to move from "everything" to "just my area" to "just my work" to "just what's in front of me right now."

I call it the "GAS gauge." Give-A-Shit, or just "fuel level" for folks who are easily offended.

I'm happier now.
