This is my new, future account. While most interaction still happen on the bsd.cafe one, I aim to migrate fully here.

I am posting mostly culture, emacs, bsd and anti-ai based ramblings. I don't curse and I try not bait people into pointless anger rages.

I am a nerd (or dork? I don't know), a software engineer and I started to hate what technology has bacame.

This is a self-hosted, single-user instance running on snac2.

@michal Most comments I hear from Europeans visiting the USA is "My god, Americans won't shut up! And they'll talk to you about anything!"

IMO, this is because we're a car culture, with lots of open spaces. We have no worries about getting to know people "too fast", and having to live next door to them forever. One or both will move on before too long. Just my opinion, though.

Just never *trust* us. The "Yankee Trader" has a bad reputation. And we're still earning it. ;)

    We have our famous "Polish smile." I'd love it if people talked a bit more with strangers. I, for the love of everything that's holy, can't. We live in our apartment for 15 years now. Only this past weekend I learned the first name of our neighbor.

      @michal Sounds like I'd fit in in Poland. ;)

      I've had to fill out paperwork for clearances. And they ask for references of neighbors. That's really hard, since I try to NOT have neighbors, and when I do, I never know who they are. I keep to myself.

      The part I'd like to get better at, is when they actually introduce themselves and I almost instantly forget their names. I should do better.

      I used to be really good at that. But at some point I just stopped bothering.
